1. Hanz de Fuko Claymation
The ultimate hair clay by Hanz de Fuko a full review here. Perfect for achieving styles that require a lot of hold and a lot of volume. This is my favorite hair product and I cannot live without it.
Alternatives: American Crew Fiber, Mister Pompadour Natural Beeswax Paste
2. TRESemme Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Protective Spray
This product is absolutely mandatory if you are using any form of heat when styling your hair such as a blow-dryer or straightener. It will help prevent some of the damage caused by exposing you hair to high heat. I was highly skeptical when I first heard of heat protecting sprays. I always assumed your hair would get just as damaged no matter what you do, if you chose to use a blow-dryer. I used this product for quite some time until I found myself on vacation without it. The difference is incredibly noticeable. My hair was dry and gritty and it disgusted me. I use this product everyday and will never find myself without it. It also helps me in the styling process because it is a bit tacky and I use it as a pre-styler.
Alternatives: Art Naturals Thermal Hair Protector
3. Organix: Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil
Argan Oil is used to prevent hair damage as well, it is a much more natural alternative to the last product however it is not as easy to use on a daily basis. I like to use this oil every few days, more specifically when I shampoo my hair, to help prevent damage and make my hair softer and just feel healthy again. Very useful if you have been beating on your hair by using a blow-dryer on max heat everyday. The type of argan oil does not matter so much, this is just one I have used, its cheap and does not have a list of extra ingredients a mile long.
Alternatives: Moroccan Oil Hair Treatment
4. Moroccan Oil Luminous Hairspray
I had never really had a use for hairspray, but as my hair gets longer and longer it has become a lifesaver, especially on windy days! Both the MoroccanOil and Big Sexy hairsprays are great at giving me the extra hold I need on some days and do not leave my hair super greasy looking. I would stay away from hairspray as a daily use because it will take its toll on your hair. It is just a good product to have in your arsenal if you ever need to look good all day and nature does not want you to( or maybe your just at a crowded party)
Alternatives: Big Sexy Hair Volumizing Hairspray
5. Sexy Hair Big Sexy Blow Dry Volume Gel
My go to daily pre-styler. Big Sexy Hair’s Volumizing gel helps me grip my hair with a brush when I am blow-drying in the morning. I usually use about two to three pumps from the bottle and spread it around my hair. It just makes blow-drying so much easier and it actually does add volume which is a great bonus.
Alternatives: str8 by Rusk
6. Pantene Pro-V Triple Action Volume Maximum Hold Hair Mousse
This mousse is very similar to the Big Sexy Hair pre-styler however it comes out in a foam, is a lot stickier, and will give you a lot more volume.
7. Hanz de Fuko Natural Shampoo and Hanz de Fuko Natural Conditioner
By far my favorite shampoo and conditioner at the moment and very worthy of being on the top ten hair products list, they leave my hair feeling so fresh and soft unlike any other product I have ever used. I have also noticed it makes my hair get a lot thicker very fast, so if any of you have problems with thinning hair I would give this a shot. However, the price point on these is very high especially for such a small bottle so I often find myself debating re-buying, but I would definitely suggest giving it a shot at least one time.
8. Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
Coconut oil has many uses one of them being it is amazing as a hair moisturizer and can make your hair feel amazing. Putting coconut oil in your hair may seem very weird, but the results are unlike anything else, your hair will be incredibly soft and feel so healthy. What you are going to want to do is lather your hair with the oil, I usually do this before bed, and make sure after some time you wash it out at minimum thirty minutes! The results from this hair treatment are phenomenal but it really can be a lot of work especially because it is a very oily(duh) greasy substance and usually takes soap to rinse out. I strongly urge you to use this as your first treatment if you suffer from dry damaged hair, it will make a difference.
9. Conair Tourmaline Brush
While you would assume a brush would be pretty self explanatory, its really not. This is probably not a brush many of you have in your bathroom, unless you live with a female like your mom or girlfriend(if so awesome, steal it!) Using a round brush when you are blow-drying will give you much different and more voluminous hair than you can usually achieve with a “regular” brush. The technique you will need to implore involves wrapping your hair around the brush in the opposite direction it grows and directing it with the hair dryer. You are going to want to bring the blow-dryer up to the brush as you unwind your hair almost brushing and sweeping the brush with the blow-dryer. If you have never had used on and have trouble with volume I would highly recommend giving it a shot. If you need more help or a more detailed description or video perhaps of how to blow-dry feel free to contact me or leave a comment.
10. Revlon RV544PKF 1875W Tourmaline Ionic Ceramic Dryer
Not much to say here, just a standard hair dryer. Try to find something in your budget that is reasonable. Just like is a little ridiculous to buy a $300+ blow-dryer, take caution when buying a cheap one as well. I have gone through many $15 blow-dryers and what I learned is you are better off buying one in the $30-$60 range because it will end up outlasting most of the cheap ones by a long shot.
I just found your articles, and I really hope you keep making more content like this so useful!
